Competition Rules — Round 1
1. Competition Format
- The league consists of 5 groups: Beginner, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, Advanced and Elite.
- Each group has 6 pairs.
- The competition follows a round-robin format, with each pair playing 5 matches during the round.
2. Scoring System
- Match played: 1 point.
- Match won: +2 additional points.
- A normal win therefore gives 3 points.
- A normal loss gives 1 point.
- A walkover win gives 2 points only.
- A pair losing by walkover receives 0 points.
3. Match Format
- Matches are played as best of 2 sets.
- If the score is 1 set all, a Super Tie-Break to 10 points, with a 2-point difference, is played.
- The winner of the Super Tie-Break wins the match 2 sets to 1.
4. Promotion & Relegation
At the end of the round:
- 1st and 2nd pairs move up one group.
- 5th and 6th pairs move down one group.
- When moving up or down, pairs may be changed.
5. Tie-Breaking Criteria
If two or more pairs finish with the same number of points, the ranking will be determined in the following order:
- Head-to-head
- Set difference
- Game difference
6. Player & Match Rules
- Players are responsible for providing the balls for their match.
- Players have 5 minutes of warm-up before the match.
- A 5-minute courtesy waiting period applies if a player or pair is late.
- Players are expected to respect their opponents, arrive on time, maintain appropriate behaviour and follow fair-play principles.
7. Match Schedule
- Matches are played from Sunday to Wednesday.
- Match times are between 18:00 and 21:00. A match can start at 21:00h
- Some flexibility with match times may be allowed when players cannot attend their assigned time, provided an alternative time is agreed between the players.
8. Player Replacement
If a player is unable to continue during the round due to injury, travel or personal reasons, they may be replaced by another player of the same level.
Any replacement player must be approved by Padel Qatar before participating in a match.
The replacement player must be considered to be at an appropriate level for the group to maintain competitive balance.
